Volunteer OPPORTUNITIES -
Community Befrienders
Community Befrienders
Programme / Service:
Active Ageing Centres
Aim of role:
There are seniors who are not formally referred for 1:1 befriending by AIC but who might still benefit from a more general door-to-door well being check-in from community befrienders, and prevent them from falling into social isolation.
Hence, we are piloting new Community Befriending Groups, who will be assigned to designated blocks and a respective group of seniors to befriend.
Location:
Ang Mo Kio; Bendemeer; Clementi; Ghim Moh; Tampines; Queenstown
Commitment Level / Frequency:
Period for at least 1 year
Fortnightly home visits/sessions
Roles & Responsibilities:
– To engage seniors through Fortnightly Home Visits:
General chit-chatting with seniors to find out if any of them might require any help & assist them where possible;
Periodic door-knocking / flyer distribution in the same block to outreach to potential seniors who might not yet know of LB AACs; and
Assist in periodic block and group engagement activities planned for seniors
*If there might be some seniors who might need more frequent contact, staff will inform and discuss possibilities with volunteers where necessary.
