Aim of role:

Medical appointments and medicine compliance are important for seniors to maintain health to continue living in the community. This role ensures that seniors follow through with their appointments while providing companionship and support to seniors to and fro home, to the hospitals or polyclinics.

 

Location:

Island-wide locations, expected to travel 

 

Commitment Level / Frequency:

Ad-hoc basis (est. 3-4 hours)

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

– To accompany and/or fetch senior from home to medical appointment.

– To accompany/send seniors back home.

– To aid the mobility of seniors if required.

– To offer care, support, and assistance to seniors during the process.

 

Requirements & Skills

– Comfortable to converse in English and/or at least one other Mother Tongue or Dialect

– Be familiar with the medical systems

– Volunteers need to be alert (to check medication prescribed to senior is accurate and to convey prescriptions to senior or programme staff after the appointment)

– Volunteers will not be required to bear the costs of transport to and from seniors’ home and healthcare facilities

– Volunteers who drive and have their own vehicle are welcome to use their own transport for this role

 

*New Volunteers will have to attend an Orientation Training before commencement
